Cheryl Fury is a Professor of History at the University of New Brunswick (Saint John) and a faculty member of the Gregg Centre for War and Society. She specializes in the social history of English seafarers, early modern maritime communities, and Holocaust education. Her research focuses on the English East India Company and the intersection of diet, disease, and disorder in 17th-century seafaring life, supported by a SSHRC grant.

Research Highlights: Dr. Fury has authored The Social History of English Seamen 1485-1649 and co-edited works on the East India Company. Her current project examines dietary practices and health in early colonial maritime voyages. She collaborates with Holocaust survivor Vera Schiff on projects like Surviving Theresienstadt.

Teaching & Outreach: Teaches courses on Tudor-Stuart England, early modern women, and modern European history. Leads travel study programs to Rome and London. Active in Holocaust education and public history initiatives.
