Lisa Peacock serves as an Associate Lecturer at the Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research within Anglia Ruskin University's Cambridge School of Creative Industries. She concurrently works as a Specialist Dramatherapist for the NHS in Devon, developing group dramatherapy interventions for veterans, cancer patients, and medical students to enhance psychological wellbeing through creative expression.
Education:
- PhD Dramatherapy, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge
- MA Sociology, University of Arizona, Tucson
- Registered Arts Therapist, Health and Care Professions Council
Her research investigates dramatherapy applications for veterans' posttraumatic growth and moral injury, cancer-related resilience, and medical student wellbeing. She champions co-produced research frameworks and examines the critical integration of artist identity within therapeutic practice, emphasizing intersectional approaches to trauma recovery across UK and US contexts.
Peacock's publications demonstrate consistent focus on mixed-methods evaluations of group dramatherapy, particularly with veteran populations. Her work bridges creative arts therapies with trauma rehabilitation, highlighting cross-cultural mental health perspectives and the therapeutic value of narrative construction in identity recovery.
Research funding includes a $165,000 clinical trial for veterans' transitional housing (Ohio Mental Health, 2015-2016) and multiple grants from the Puffin Foundation and Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation supporting veteran mental health initiatives through creative arts programming.
She supervises MA dramatherapy students at ARU for major projects and provides clinical supervision as a certified creative clinical supervisor (2024) for NHS colleagues, private practice dramatherapists, and medical students. Professional affiliations include the British Association of Dramatherapists and HCPC registration as an Arts Therapist.
