Lisa Martin

Lisa Martin is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia’s School of Biomedical Sciences, within the Pathology and Laboratory Science department. Her work focuses on burns research, particularly pediatric cases, with over 15 years of experience in clinical trials and academic research. She holds a PhD in psychological recovery after adult burn (2018) and a Master of Public Health, complemented by a background in critical care nursing.

Research interests include burn injury mechanisms, pediatric scald prevention, psychological recovery, genetics of scarring, and burn prevention strategies. She leads the pediatric burn unit’s research team, conducting studies on short- and long-term outcomes. Key projects include evaluating community-based exercise programs for pediatric burn survivors and implementation science for negative pressure wound therapy.

Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing injury prevention and healthcare innovation. Notable collaborations involve the Australia and New Zealand Burn Association (ANZBA) and WA Consumer Product Advocacy Network.
