Dr. Lisa Jackson-Schebetta is the Chair of the Theater Department and holds the rank of Professor of History & Theory at Skidmore College. She earned a PhD from the University of Washington and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her research focuses on performance and theater histories in the Americas, Latin America, and Spain, with emphases on race, activism, and peace-making. She has authored a seminal book on interwar theater and the Spanish Civil War's impact on decolonial thought, and is completing a second work on Colombian peace-making and performance.
Professional affiliations include roles as editor of Theatre History Studies, former AAUW Fellow, and Treasurer-elect of the American Society of Theatre Research. She has directed and collaborated with institutions like the American Globe Theatre and Seattle Shakespeare Company, and oversees Skidmore’s Miranda Family Fellowships program.
