Dennis Schebetta is an Assistant Professor of Acting & Directing at Skidmore College's Theater Department. He previously taught at Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Bellevue College. He holds an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
His research focuses on psychological well-being in performance training, consent-based practices, and the integration of technology (e.g., robots, multimedia) into theater. He is co-author of Building a Performance: An Actor’s Guide to Rehearsal (2023) and contributed a chapter to Objectives, Obstacles and Tactics in Practice (Routledge, 2019).
As a director, he has worked with theaters like Ensemble Studio Theater and Skidmore productions of Silent Sky and Heddatron. His film My Date with Adam won the High Desert International Film Festival's Best Comedy award. He also maintains active roles as an actor and collaborator with playwrights on new works.
