Lisa Garner Santa serves as Professor of Flute and Director of the Institute for Faculty Excellence at Texas Tech University's School of Music. An internationally recognized performer and pedagogue, she maintains an active career spanning solo recitals, chamber music, and global masterclasses at institutions including the Royal College of Music and Peking University.
Her educational background includes:
- B.M. in Flute Performance and Music Business from West Texas State University
- M.M. from Florida State University
- D.M.A. from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University
Dr. Garner Santa's research centers on contemporary flute repertoire and innovative pedagogy, exemplified by her co-development of the Flute/Theory Workout method integrating technique with theoretical concepts. She actively commissions new works from composers like Derek Bermel and Valerie Coleman while exploring interdisciplinary connections through her course Yoga and the Creative Arts: Philosophy and Practice, reflecting her certification as a Kripalu E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor.
