Lisa Eklund is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Lund University's Faculty of Social Sciences, where she also works with the Center for Economic Demography. Her research focuses on gender, population issues, and social policy, with particular expertise in Chinese society and Swedish welfare systems.
Her research interests include Gender Studies, Population Demographics, Social Policy, Family Studies, and Chinese Society. She examines how gender imbalances affect family structures, with specific attention to China's "missing girls" phenomenon and Sweden's parental support policies. Her work connects with multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals related to gender equality and reduced inequalities.
Eklund's recent publications reveal strong trends in analyzing gender dynamics in both Western and Asian contexts, with particular focus on how cultural values intersect with policy frameworks. Her research spans comparative studies between Nordic and Chinese societies, examining workplace dynamics, family structures, and educational systems through a gendered lens.

Professor Eklund teaches undergraduate and advanced courses in gender, development, social policy, and methodology, and oversees essay courses for BIDS students. She is actively involved in multiple research projects including 'Changing gender and class relations in the wake of RUT and ROT usage' and 'FAMIW: Family, Migration and Welfare.' Her collaborative work extends across international boundaries, connecting Nordic and Chinese academic communities.
