Lisa Corinne Davis is a Professor of Art at Hunter College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY). She holds a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MFA from Hunter College. Her work focuses on abstract painting exploring racial, social, and psychological identity, exhibited globally in institutions like The Museum of Modern Art and The Victoria and Albert Museum. Represented by Jenkins Johnson Gallery, Miles McEnery Gallery, and The Mayor Gallery, Davis has received prestigious awards including the Guggenheim Fellowship and Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant.
Her research interests bridge visual arts with cultural critique, evident in essays published in the Brooklyn Rail and Art Critical. She previously taught at Cooper Union School of Art and Yale University, contributing to art education across institutions. Davis’ career combines artistic practice with scholarly engagement, addressing contemporary themes in identity and visual culture.
