Lis Bundock is a Principal Lecturer and Academic Subject Leader for Secondary, Further Education and Skills (FES), and Employment-Based Routes in teaching at the University of Brighton's School of Education, Sport and Health. She leads initiatives to address educational inequalities, particularly in LGBTQ+ inclusive education. Her roles include overseeing the Teacher Degree Apprenticeship program and co-leading an Office for Students-funded project to widen access for underrepresented groups.
Education:
- MA in Education (University of Brighton, 2014-2017): Focused on 'Becoming a teacher and being LGBT: negotiating the heteronormative in primary school contexts.'
- EdD (Ongoing since 2019): 'The (im)possible context: What are the lived experiences of gender diverse teachers working within UK schools?'
Research Interests: Focuses on LGBTQ+ inclusive education, anti-racist pedagogy, and the lived experiences of gender-diverse teachers. Current projects explore race and ethnicity in UK universities and creative methods in LGBTQ+ research.
Grants/Awards:
- Won Tutor/Trainer of the Year at the 2021 Brighton and Hove Apprenticeship Graduation.
- Nominated for Advance HE National Teaching Fellowship (2024).
- Lead on successful bids for Department for Education and Office for Students funding.
Professional Roles:
- External Examiner for Bromley SCITT (2025–2029) and Newman University's Primary ITE program (2020–2024).
- Member of UCET Equalities Sub-Committee and Board Member of the Centre for Transforming Gender and Sexuality.
Key Projects: Co-leads an Ignite 3.3 Impact Acceleration project on creative pedagogical methods for children in Mumbai affected by grief/trauma.
