Jonathan Binney serves as a Principal Lecturer at the University of Brighton's School of Education, Sport and Health, where he holds the position of Programme Centre Leader for Physical Education, Physical Education with QTS, Sport Studies and Sports Business Management. With extensive experience spanning both university teaching and K-12 educational leadership, Binney has established himself as a specialist in innovative physical education pedagogy.
Binney's research interests center on the implementation of alternative activity areas within Physical Education curricula, the effective integration of Information and Communication Technology as a learning tool, and evidence-based approaches to swimming instruction encompassing both theoretical frameworks and practical applications. His work particularly emphasizes non-traditional approaches that have gained international recognition, including the nationally acclaimed 'Alternative Approaches' to Physical Education methodology.
His scholarly output demonstrates consistent research activity from 2011-2023, with publications showing a clear progression toward more inclusive and innovative teaching methodologies.
