Linus Jönsson is a Professor of Health Economics at Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. His research focuses on the economic and clinical aspects of Alzheimer's disease and dementia, including cost analyses, biomarker development, and healthcare policy. He holds a medical degree from Uppsala University (2000), a Master’s in Business and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics (2001), and a PhD from Karolinska Institutet (2003). He became a Docent in 2019 and was appointed Professor in 2023.
His research interests span health economics, disease progression modeling, cost-effectiveness analysis, and public health strategies for neurodegenerative diseases. Key projects include the AD-RIDDLE initiative for diagnostic improvements and the Prominent project for dementia care optimization. He has contributed to global studies on dementia prevalence and costs, including the 2023 report for the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.
His recent publications emphasize biomarkers, machine learning applications in diagnosis, and the economic burden of dementia. He collaborates internationally on projects like the EU-funded Prominent and AD-RIDDLE consortia. His work bridges clinical practice and policy, addressing challenges in healthcare resource allocation and treatment accessibility.
