Lingxuan Wu is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University, joining in July 2025. His research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics, finance, and behavioral economics, focusing on bounded rationality, financial intermediation, and government policy.
Research Interests: Wu investigates how individuals form mental models of economic dynamics, particularly their limited understanding of shock propagation, and how this affects asset pricing and stabilization policies. He also studies monetary policy transmission through institutional investors, the role of financial market structure in economic fluctuations, and distortions in production networks due to competition.
Recent Publications Trends: His recent work combines theoretical modeling with empirical testing, emphasizing cognitive depth in macroeconomic reasoning and the structural foundations of financial and real economic interactions. Key themes include mental models, portfolio rebalancing, land finance, and platform competition, published or under review in top-tier journals like Management Science, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Economic Studies.

- Chi-Sun Yeh Prize for Best Undergraduate Student in Physics, Tsinghua University (2019)
Advising and Grants: As a newly appointed faculty member, there is no public record of advisees or externally funded grants yet. However, his fellowship from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation indicates early recognition and support for his research in behavioral macroeconomics. Future work is expected to expand on cognitive foundations of macro-finance models and policy design.
Labs and Research Teams: While no formal lab is mentioned, Wu collaborates with leading economists such as Pierfrancesco Mei, Xu Lu, Mehmet Ekmekci, and Alexander White. His work is associated with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) through his Sloan Fellowship, suggesting active participation in a broader research network.
