Recent publications (2023-2025) reveal evolving focus toward alcohol-related health risks in women, employing Delphi studies to examine breast cancer communication and reduction barriers in mid-life women. Work consistently applies mixed-methods approaches to family-based interventions across international contexts.
As co-director of the My Strong Family Centre (MSFC), Coombes led knowledge transfer initiatives implementing SFP10-14 globally to prevent teenage substance misuse. Affiliated with Oxford Brookes' Health Behaviour and Wellbeing research group, current projects emphasize cultural adaptation of evidence-based family programs and longitudinal assessment of caregiver-child outcomes.
