Lindsay Nelson, PhD, is a Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), holding joint appointments in Neurosurgery and Neurology. She leads the Nelson Laboratory within the Brain Injury Research Program, focusing on traumatic brain injury (TBI) recovery, clinical outcomes, and patient-centered care. Her research includes psychometric methods, neurobiological underpinnings of TBI, and personalized medicine approaches.
Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology (Florida State University, 2012), MA in Clinical Science (University of Minnesota, 2009), BS in Biopsychology (University of Michigan, 2006). She completed a neuropsychology fellowship at MCW (2012-2014).
Research Interests: Heterogeneity in TBI presentation, outcome measurement improvement, individual differences in recovery, and systemic care advancements. Active projects include phenotyping TBI subtypes, optimizing clinical trial endpoints, and addressing environmental and psychosocial modifiers.
Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2021, focusing on TBI classification, biomarkers, and longitudinal outcomes. Recent work highlights the NIH-NINDS TBI Classification Initiative and TRACK-TBI cohort studies.
Awards: Postgraduate Scholar Award (2014), NIMH Research Service Award (2010-2011), and multiple fellowships (2008-2009).
