Linda Morell is a researcher and educator at the University of California, Berkeley’s School of Education, specializing in educational assessment and evaluation. She teaches courses on program evaluation and evaluation theory, and conducts research through the BEAR Center. As Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on NSF and NIH grants, she explores learning progressions in science education, student understanding of argumentation and ecosystems, and high school students’ belonging in science. Her work includes developing assessments for middle school students and measuring researcher identity among high schoolers.
She holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and has contributed to over 20 peer-reviewed publications and presentations since 2020. Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, combining science education, psychometrics, and technology-enhanced assessment. Notable projects include the NSF-funded Learning Progressions in Science project and the NIH-funded Teen Wellness Connection initiative.
Dr. Morell collaborates with institutions like UCSF and international conferences such as the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction. Her work bridges theory and practice, aiming to improve educational outcomes through rigorous assessment design and teacher support.
