Qiu Wang serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Statistics within Syracuse University's School of Education, specializing in advanced statistical methodologies for educational research.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Measurement and Quantitative Methods from Michigan State University
- M.S. in Applied Statistics from Michigan State University

His research centers on psychometrics and educational assessment using factor analysis, large-scale modeling through empirical Bayes and structural equation modeling, data mining techniques, and measurement error correction. He investigates intervention effects in math/science education via propensity score matching while examining human development in school contexts—including technology impacts, poverty-related disparities, special needs populations, and racial/gender differences through empirical contemplative studies.
Dr. Wang has secured 12 grants as PI/co-PI from NSF, AERA, Hong Kong's General Research Fund, and Syracuse's CUSE program. He serves as external evaluator for federal projects funded by DOE, IES, NIH, and NSF, providing statistical expertise for educational initiatives.
Prior to Syracuse, he co-directed Purdue University's Psychometric Instruction/Investigation Laboratory (PUPIL) as Assistant Professor in the College of Education.
