Linda Davies is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Manchester, based in the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research & Primary Care. She specializes in health economics, focusing on economic evaluations of complex interventions in mental health, chronic disabilities, and patient preferences for healthcare. Her roles include leading the Health Economics module in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program alongside Martin Eden, teaching principles of economic evaluation and its application in healthcare decision-making.
Her research interests span mental health economics, systematic reviews, and cost-effectiveness analysis. Current projects include COINCIDE (mental health interventions), suicide prevention strategies, and culturally adapted therapies for postnatal depression in South Asian communities. She collaborates with institutions like the Manchester Centre for Health Economics (MCHE) and leads multi-disciplinary teams on projects such as the Prevention of Suicide in Prisons (PROSPECT) and improving cardiac rehabilitation outcomes through metacognitive therapy.
Linda has contributed to NHS policy, including implementing psychosis prevention treatments and optimizing antipsychotic drug use. She holds a BA in Economics (1983) and an MSc in Health Economics (1984). Her work aligns with UN SDGs related to health and well-being, and she has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles, with recent focus on pandemic healthcare costs, de-escalation training in psychiatric units, and autism caregiver interventions.
