Linda Berg is an Associate Professor and Docent of Gender Studies at Umeå University's Umeå Centre for Gender Studies (UCGS). She holds a PhD in Ethnology and has been affiliated with Umeå University since 2002. Her academic work spans gender studies, cultural science, and postcolonial studies, with a focus on civil society, (post)colonial dynamics, medical humanities, and reproductive rights. She leads projects such as 'Hormone Narratives' (2021–2025) and 'Negotiating the Risk of Segregation' (with Hanna Bäckström Olofsson), funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Her research explores themes like solidarity in social movements, transnational communities, and the impact of endocrine discourses on self-perception. She teaches courses at all academic levels, including 'Feminist Theories' and 'Gender, Nation, and Migration,' and serves as course coordinator for doctoral ethnography programs. Her work critically engages with secularism, self-help literature, and the intersections of gender, nationality, and coloniality.
Key projects include studies on Nicaragua’s sexual and reproductive rights, transnational artifacts in civil society (2015–2020), and hormone narratives in health discourse. She collaborates with international networks and initiatives, contributing to scholarly debates on postcolonialism and feminist methodologies.
