Research Interests:
Lina's work bridges ecological economics and environmental policy, focusing on the valuation of nature, deliberative democracy, and the philosophical foundations of environmental valuation methods. She critically examines the dominance of neoclassical economic theory in environmental governance and explores alternatives rooted in ecological economics.
Her research also delves into policy implementation, particularly how environmental economic ideas influence real-world decision-making in Swedish agencies. She uses reflexive and autoethnographic methods to interrogate the ideological underpinnings of economic valuation.
Research Projects:
- TRANSPLACE (2023–2028): Funded by Formas, this project is part of a research school focused on transformative place-based sustainability.
- Environmental Economics in Action (2023–2029): A project examining the practical influence of environmental economics on Swedish environmental policy, funded by Jan Wallander and Tom Hedelius Foundation.
- Teaching and Learning about the Embedded Economy (2024–2027): A collaborative project on sustainability education in high schools, funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Publications:
Lina has published extensively in top-tier journals such as Environmental Values, People and Nature, and Ecological Economics. Her work spans theoretical critiques of economic valuation, empirical studies on deliberative valuation methods, and applied research on ecosystem services and invasive species.
Affiliations & Collaborations:
In addition to her roles at Uppsala University, Lina has collaborated with the Stockholm Resilience Centre, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. She has also contributed to policy work for the Green Party in the Swedish Parliament.
