Liming Guan

Liming Guan is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the School of Accountancy within the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii. His research focuses on capital market studies, information systems, and international accounting. He holds a PhD from Oklahoma State University (2001), an MS from Oklahoma State University (1998), an MS from the University of Florida (1996), and a BS from the University of Science and Technology of China (1990).

His teaching responsibilities include courses such as Introduction to Accounting I, Accounting Information Systems, and Information and Assurance and Analytics. His research publications explore topics like managerial behavior, financial reporting practices, and cross-country accounting comparisons, with notable contributions to journals such as Finance Research Letters and Emerging Markets Finance & Trade.

Guan’s work bridges accounting theory and practice, addressing issues like earnings management, director & officer insurance effects, and digital marketing trust dynamics. He actively participates in professional activities via initiatives like the Hawaii Accounting Research Conference (HARC) and the Hawaii Accounting Research Doctoral Institute (HARDI).
