Dr. Lila Asher serves as a Researcher at the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources at the University of Manitoba. Her work bridges climate policy, Indigenous-settler collaboration, and urban governance. She holds a Master of Arts (2025, University of Winnipeg), Master of City Planning (2023, University of Manitoba), and Bachelor of Arts (2018, University of Toronto).
Research focuses on decolonizing climate action through municipal-Indigenous partnerships, urban environmental justice, and historical spatial inequities. Recent work examines redlining impacts on resilience metrics and critiques performative land acknowledgments in settler institutions.
Publications span urban planning, environmental policy, and Indigenous studies journals. Active in community-based research and anti-colonial activism, her work emphasizes actionable pathways for equitable climate governance.
