Lifu Chang

Lifu Chang is a Researcher at the University of Southern California (USC) Information Sciences Institute (ISI), serving as Director of The MOSIS Service. He leads semiconductor manufacturing and yield enablement initiatives, bridging research and industry collaborations with top foundries.

• Ph.D., Solid State Electronics, Purdue University (1996)
• 20+ years in semiconductor device/process technology, EDA, DFM, and design-yield optimization
• Pioneered DFM technology at Clear Shape Technologies; built DFM teams at SMIC and Qualcomm
• Developed industry-standard EDA tool flows for metal density gradients, via redundancy, OPC analysis
• Active in SPIE as committee member for Design and Process Technology Co-Optimization Program

His research focuses on semiconductor design-process co-optimization, advanced lithography (EUV), and 3DIC processes. With nearly 50 publications and multiple patents, his work drives yield enhancement in nanoscale chip manufacturing.
