Liangbo Ma is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong's School of Business, part of the Faculty of Business and Law. He has held this position since 2022. His research focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Financial Reporting, Corporate Governance, Family Firm Dynamics, and ESG Disclosure Strategies. He actively supervises PhD candidates exploring ESG-related topics such as ESG uncertainty, ESG advertisement impacts, and disclosure readability.
His research interests include analyzing racial inequality through accounting policies in South Africa, strategic earnings management in family businesses, and the interplay between investor behavior and corporate tax strategies. He has also investigated how trade credit and tax avoidance affect corporate financial health.
Notably, he secured an Advancement and Equity Grants Scheme for Research (AEGiS) grant (2024-2025) to explore ESG rating discrepancies linked to disclosure readability and length. His work frequently engages with Chinese corporate governance contexts, including CSR reporting and political connections in listed firms.
Dr. Ma collaborates with institutions like the University of Wollongong and international scholars, producing impactful studies in journals such as the Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal. His contributions bridge accounting practices, governance frameworks, and socio-economic policies across diverse global contexts.
