معرفی
Dr. Liam O’Neil is an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine and Immunology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He holds a cross-appointment in Immunology and is affiliated with the Manitoba Centre for Proteomics and Systems Biology. His research focuses on preclinical mechanisms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), integrating proteomics, immunology, and bioinformatics to identify early disease markers.
Education: MD (University of Manitoba, 2012), FRCPC in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology (2016/2017), M.HSc (Duke University, 2020), B.Sc. (University of Manitoba, 2008).
Research Themes: Innate immunity, neutrophils, preclinical disease, proteomics, and RA pathogenesis. He has pioneered work on neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and autoantibody responses in RA, leveraging thermal imaging and AI for early detection.
Awards: Multiple accolades including the Henry Metzer Scholar and CRA’s top abstract awards. His work on thermal imaging received funding from The Winnipeg Foundation Innovation Fund (2022).
Collaborations: Works with Dr. Pingzhao Hu (Biochemistry), Dr. Hani El-Gabalawy (Immunology), and Dylan MacKay (Community Health Sciences) on AI-driven thermal imaging studies. Currently accepting Master’s students.
Labs/Teams: Affiliated with the Manitoba Centre for Proteomics and Systems Biology. Leading a multidisciplinary team to develop predictive tools for RA prevention.
