Li Zhou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, an MA in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BA in Public Finance from Renmin University of China. Her research focuses on international trade, behavioral economics, and urban economics, addressing topics such as the hold-up problem in inner-city commercial development, effects of foreign students on enrollment, and reference-dependent preferences in professional sports and local governance.
She teaches courses including ECON 223 (Economics of Globalization) and ECON 384 (Intermediate Microeconomic Theory II). Her work bridges theoretical and applied economics, emphasizing global economic dynamics and policy implications.
