Yuanyuan Zhou

Yuanyuan Zhou is the Qualcomm Endowed Chair Professor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she has been since 2009. Prior to UCSD, she was a tenured associate professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University. Her research focuses on system dependability, energy-efficient data centers, storage systems, and network protocols. She has co-founded two startups, Pattern Insight (acquired by VMware in 2012) and Emphora, and has organized leading conferences like SOSP 2019, ASPLOS 2016, and FAST 2013.

She leads the Opera research group at UCSD, producing impactful work in systems and software reliability. Notable awards include the ACM Mark Weiser Award (2015), IEEE Fellow (2015), and ACM Fellow (2013). Her former students hold academic positions, lead tech startups, and work at top companies like Google, Apple, and Facebook.
