Corinne Langinier is a Professor of Economics at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts, leading the Department of Economics. She holds a Ph.D. from Toulouse School of Economics and has held academic positions at Concordia University and Iowa State University. Her research focuses on Industrial Organization, Applied Microeconomics, and Agricultural Economics, emphasizing intellectual property rights, innovation strategies, and agricultural market dynamics. She currently directs the University of Alberta Economists (UAE) Group and serves as Co-Editor of Environmental and Resource Economics, Editor of Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics, and Associate Editor of International Review of Environmental and Resource Economics.
Her work examines patent systems' efficacy, strategic behavior of innovators, regulatory impacts on R&D investments, and litigation economics. Recent studies include analyses of patent continuation effects, green innovation under trade policies, and merger reviews under information asymmetry. She has also explored agricultural production clubs, pesticide resistance management, and spatial efficiency in GM crops.
Langinier teaches advanced courses such as ECON 281 (Intermediate Microeconomic Theory I) and ECON 473 (Game Theory and Economic Applications), reflecting her expertise in theoretical frameworks and strategic analysis. She has advised multiple working papers on topics like geographical indications, environmental regulations, and patent pooling strategies. Her research consistently bridges theoretical economics with practical policy implications.
