معرفی
Dr. Lesly Calderon is a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Allergy Research (Helmholtz Munich), specializing in Molecular Immunology. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulating B cell activation and differentiation into antibody-secreting cells, with applications in understanding allergic diseases.
Education:
- Biochemistry, University of Havana, Cuba
- Master’s studies, University of Havana (Cuba) and University of São Paolo (Brazil)
- PhD, International Max Planck Research School (MPI-IE, Freiburg, Germany)
Her work spans transcriptional regulation in lymphocyte development, including pioneering in vivo models for CRISPR/Cas9 screening to identify novel regulators of B cell responses. She has held postdoctoral positions at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, Imperial College London and the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), Vienna.
Scientific Awards & Recognitions:
- HFSP Long-Term Fellowship (2013)
- EMBO Long-Term Fellowship (2012)
- Hans-Spemann Prize (2012)
- Otto-Westphal PhD Prize (2012)
- Otto Hahn Medal (2011)
- Cuban Academy of Sciences Annual Prize (2006)
- IFS Research Fellowship (2005)
Dr. Calderon is affiliated with the German Society of Immunology (DGfI) and has advanced studies on Pax5 and Cohesin complex roles in immune cell development. Her future work aims to develop in vitro and in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 screening systems for IgE-expressing B cells linked to allergies.
