Leslie Reidel is a Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Delaware. He holds a B.A. from Muhlenberg College and an M.F.A. from Temple University. Prior to his current role, he taught at Temple University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he helped establish the Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP). He has extensive experience in theatre direction, having worked with institutions like the Walnut Street Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, and multiple Shakespeare Festivals.
Reidel has served as drama critic for Philadelphia Review and Philadelphia After Dark, and was resident director for the Great American Children's Theatre for 14 years. He co-founded Philadelphia's Enchantment Theatre Company, whose productions tour nationally. His research focuses on Shakespeare, evidenced by his NEH grants and involvement with the International Shakespeare Conference.
His professional accolades include three NEH grants (with Jay Halio) supporting Shakespearean scholarship. He also directed the New York workshop of The Magician, a new play with music.
