Lesley M. Berhan

Dr. Lesley M. Berhan is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Student Success and Strategic Initiatives at The University of Toledo's College of Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and focuses on engineering education, particularly in broadening participation and student success.

• Education: B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (University of the West Indies), M.S. in Civil Engineering (MIT), Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (University of Michigan)

Her research interests include transforming student experiences through evidence-based practices, workforce development, and creating equitable learning environments. She has secured over $2M in NSF funding for initiatives in Racial Equity in STEM Education, Scholarships in STEM (S-STEM), and Research Initiation in Engineering Formation (RIEF).

Dr. Berhan serves as a co-PI for the University of Toledo in the Student Experience Project (SEP) and represents the university on the Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) and EngPLUS Midwest Regional Hub. She also contributes to advisory boards like the Jack Ford Urban Affairs Center.
