Julie P. Martin

Julie P. Martin, Ph.D., is the Director of the Engineering Education Transformations Institute (EETI) and Professor of Engineering Education at the University of Georgia. She holds a BS in Materials Science from North Carolina State University and a PhD from Virginia Tech. Her work focuses on leveraging social capital and methodological activism to enhance equity in engineering education. Dr. Martin has held leadership roles at the National Science Foundation and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering.

Her research explores how social networks and institutional supports influence student persistence, particularly for underrepresented groups. Key areas include virtual reality in education, DEI initiatives, and mentorship dynamics. She advocates for constructive academic publishing practices and has pioneered frameworks for measuring professional skill development in engineering students.
