Leonisa Ardizzone is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education at Vassar College, affiliated with the Departments of Education, Environmental Studies, and Women, Feminist, and Queer Studies. She joined Vassar in 2019. Her research and teaching bridge peace education, climate change, spirituality, and social justice. Ardizzone holds a BA in Biology from Ithaca College, an EdM in Science Education from Western Washington University, a PhD in International Educational Development (Peace Education specialization) from Columbia University, and an MDiv in Interreligious Engagement from Union Theological Seminary.
Her research focuses on integrating spirituality, science, and technology to address climate change through frameworks like the 'Three-Legged Stool.' Recent work emphasizes climate justice and youth activism, with articles in Zygon and Peace Review. She co-authored studies on dialogical learning in higher education and non-formal youth organizations. Courses include Issues in Contemporary Education, The Adolescent in American Society, and International and Comparative Education.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to education, climate action, and peacebuilding. She engages with punk rock culture’s role in youth activism and advocates for interreligious dialogue.
