Leonid Karachinsky is a Professor of Practice and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Advanced Data Transfer Systems, ITMO University. He holds a DSc in Engineering and has a distinguished career spanning academia and industry.
- Education: Bachelor's and Master's in Physics from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (1999-2001), PhD in Semiconductor Physics from Ioffe Institute (2004), DSc in Engineering from ITMO University (2021).
Research Interests: Focus on semiconductor heterostructures, quantum dots, laser technologies (VCSELs, quantum cascade lasers), photodetectors, and quantum photonic devices. His work bridges semiconductor physics and optical data transmission systems.
Leadership & Professional Roles: CEO of Connector Optics LLC since 2009, Chairman of ITMO's Academic Degree Council, and member of editorial boards for the Journal of Optical Technology and Reviews on Advanced Materials and Technologies.
