Professor Lena Dominelli holds a Chair in Social Work at the University of Stirling. She previously served as Co-Director at the Institute of Hazards, Risk and Resilience (2010-2016) at Durham University. Her research focuses on disaster interventions, climate change, extreme weather events, health pandemics, and community engagement. She pioneered 'green social work' as a new theoretical and practical paradigm.

- Resilience in older adults
- Substance misuse and intimate partner violence in disasters
- Globalisation's impact on social policy
She chairs the IASSW Committee on Disaster Interventions, Climate Change and Sustainability and the BASW Special Interest Group on Disaster Interventions. Recognized globally for her contributions, she has represented social work at UN climate change discussions since 2010 and served as IASSW President (1996-2004).
Directs the MSc in Disaster Interventions and Humanitarian Aid at Stirling, integrating participatory action research methodologies. Her work has been funded by ESRC, EPSRC, NERC, SSHRC, DFID, and the Wellcome Trust.
