Len Thomas-Vickory is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Montserrat College of Art's Department of Printmaking. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1969, his artistic ethos is rooted in blue-collar values and social engagement through printmaking. He transitioned from painting to printmaking in 2003 to amplify public accessibility of his work.
Education: BFA from Montserrat College of Art (1995), MFA from School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Research Interests: Zen philosophy, Japanese landscape, and themes of mindfulness ('here and now') profoundly influence his work. He explores socio-political issues like third-party candidacies and education value through silkscreened publications via Velvet Pelican Projects (2003-2007). Annual Japan trips since 2008 further shaped his artistic vision.
Labs/Teams: Founder of Velvet Pelican Projects, a collective producing large-run silkscreened booklets addressing public discourse. Active in cross-coast exhibitions and public art projects since 2011.
