Lema Kabashi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL). She specializes in special education, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and video-based instructional strategies. Since 2012, she has served as program coordinator for the dual Elementary Middle Education (K-9)/Special Education (K-12) major and contributed to redesigning UWL's special education program. Her leadership roles include equity liaison, faculty mentor, and grant consultant.
Dr. Kabashi holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.Ed. from Slippery Rock University, and a B.S. from the University of Prishtina. She teaches courses on special education practices, field experiences, and student teaching. Her research focuses on cross-cultural validity of early childhood assessments, particularly the AEPS-3 in Kosovo, and has secured over $11,500 in grants.
Her scholarly work emphasizes evidence-based practices in global contexts, including study abroad initiatives to Luxembourg and collaborations with Kosovar educators. She has presented at 22 conferences and published 8 peer-reviewed articles. Awards include the School of Education's Excellence in Research (2018) and Excellence in Teaching (2019).
