Dr. Leila Afshari is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at RMIT University's School of Management and Co-Leader of the Gender Equity and Organisations Theme at the Centre for Organisations and Social Change (COSC). She joined RMIT in 2022, previously serving as School Director-Graduate Research and Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University. Her PhD in Business and Management (2017) and Bachelor's (Honours) in Engineering inform her research, which focuses on Future of Work, Employee Well-being, Women in STEM, and Career Development for migrants. She secured over $500k in external research funding, including a 2023 Australian Government project on career development for female migrants.
Dr. Afshari is Associate Editor of the Leadership & Organization Development Journal and sits on editorial boards for Personnel Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources, and Human Resource Development International. Her work addresses organizational leadership, digital transformation, and sustainable practices. Notable projects include studies on medical radiation professionals' mental health, SME digital strategies, and ethical leadership in Asian SMEs.
She advises on Masters/PhD supervision, industry projects, and collaborative research. Key themes in her 28+ publications include workplace innovation, diversity management, and pandemic impacts on healthcare workers. Dr. Afshari engages with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Health), 5 (Gender Equality), and 8 (Decent Work).
