Leidy Klotz is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Virginia with affiliate appointments in the School of Architecture. His research integrates behavioral science and engineering to develop sustainable systems solutions. Educated at Penn State University (PhD), University of Washington (MS), and Lafayette College (BS), he has secured over $10M in research funding including NSF CAREER and INSPIRE awards.
Research interests focus on sustainable infrastructure, decision analysis, and bio-inspired systems. He directs the Convergent Behavioral Science Initiative and has published extensively in Science and Nature. Professor Klotz has advised 21 PhD students now in academic positions nationwide and received multiple teaching awards.
