Leena S. Knight is Associate Professor of Biology at Whitman College studying neuronal plasticity in neurological disorders. Research combines electrophysiology and immunocytochemistry to analyze circuitry reorganization.
Current NIH/NSF-funded projects examine betaine's neuroprotective role during osmotic stress and altered inhibition in epilepsy models. Collaborates with VA Puget Sound Hospital on neuromodulator signaling in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.
Teaches courses in neurophysiology, cell signaling, and public health policy.
