Erik Bloss

Erik Bloss is an Assistant Professor at The Jackson Laboratory and affiliated with the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering (GSBSE) at the University of Maine. His research focuses on neuronal circuitry, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease.

• Education: BA from University of Colorado at Boulder (2005), PhD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2012).

His work explores how stress and aging alter cortical circuit wiring, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal connectivity using advanced imaging, genetic tools, and neurophysiological techniques in mouse models. He investigates Alzheimer’s disease vulnerability and circuit manipulations for neuroprotection.

Recent publications analyze synaptic clustering, microglia-synapse interactions in Alzheimer’s, N-cadherin roles in plasticity, and circadian disruption effects.
