Lee M. Nadler serves as Dean for Clinical and Translational Research at Harvard Medical School and holds the Virginia and D.K. Ludwig Professorship for Cancer Research and Teaching. He additionally directs Harvard Catalyst at HMS and acts as Senior Vice President for Academic Integration and Pan Mass Challenge Senior Investigator at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
His seminal research revolutionized B-cell immunology and cancer treatment through the discovery of human B-cell markers CD19, CD20, CD21, CD22 and costimulatory molecules B7-1 (CD80), B7-2 (CD86). This work established the immunologic classification of B-cell leukemias/lymphomas and pioneered monoclonal antibody therapies—including the first human administration of monoclonal antibodies and development of Rituxan (anti-CD20)—dramatically improving global lymphoma survival rates.
Dr. Nadler's contributions have earned numerous unspecified awards for revolutionary cancer treatments.
As founding Chief of Hematologic Malignancies and founding Chair of Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber, he established foundational cancer research infrastructure. His current leadership of Harvard Catalyst drives 'One Harvard' collaborative initiatives to solve major health challenges through cross-institutional academic integration.
