Dr. Peter Sicinski is a Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and a researcher at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His work focuses on the cell cycle machinery in normal development and cancer. He holds a MD and PhD from the Warsaw Medical School in Poland and completed postdoctoral training at MIT under Dr. Robert A. Weinberg. Since 1997, he has been affiliated with Harvard and Dana-Farber, where his lab explores cell cycle regulation, cancer mechanisms, and therapeutic applications.
Education:
- MD and PhD, Warsaw Medical School, Poland
Research Interests: Dr. Sicinski’s research integrates genetic, genomic, and proteomic approaches to study how cell cycle machinery regulates proliferation in development and cancer. Key areas include identifying differences between normal and cancer cell cycles, exploring non-cell cycle functions of these pathways, and developing targeted therapies.
Awards:
- AACR-Gertrude B. Elion Cancer Research Award (2002)
- Abbott Bioresearch Center Award (2002)
- Scholar Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Award (2003)
- Scholar of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (2005)
- Foreign Member, Polish Academy of Sciences (2005)
Advising & Grants: While detailed grants and student advisees are not listed, Dr. Sicinski’s lab is a hub for cancer research, collaborating with institutions like Novartis on therapeutic advancements. His work is highlighted in Dana-Farber’s joint research initiatives.
Labs & Teams: The Sicinski Lab at Dana-Farber focuses on cell cycle biology, leveraging multidisciplinary methods to bridge basic science and clinical applications in cancer therapy.
