Dr. Leanne L. Newman is a Lecturer in the Higher Education/Student Affairs (HESA) master’s program at the School of Education, Baylor University. A Baylor alumna (B.A. Journalism, 1985), she earned her master’s (1995) and Ed.D. (1998) in Counseling and College Student Development at the University of Louisville. She has taught College Student Development Theory courses at Baylor since 2002 and previously served as Director of Student Life at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she established enduring programs including new student orientation and campus traditions.

Her research focuses on student development theory, with emphasis on the freshman year experience, faith development, and the intersection of multiculturalism and social class structure in higher education. She has presented at NASPA, ACPA, and SACSA conferences.
