معرفی
Lawrence Palmer is a Professor at the Weill Cornell Medicine Graduate School of Medical Sciences, specializing in the study of ion channels in the kidney and their role in maintaining body fluid homeostasis. His research focuses on the epithelial Na channel (ENaC), which regulates sodium and potassium excretion through mechanisms involving protein trafficking and ubiquitination.
Education:
- B.A. from Swarthmore College
- Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania
- Postdoctoral training at UCSF, Universität des Saarlandes, and Columbia University
Research Interests span cellular physiology, membrane protein dynamics, and systems-level regulation of electrolyte balance. His work integrates electrophysiology, Western blotting, and immunocytochemistry to investigate ENaC selectivity, trafficking kinetics, and hormonal regulation by aldosterone.
Scientific Awards
- Siegel Faculty Award
- Bardes Teaching Award (2017)
- Multiple First-year Teaching Awards (2006–2020)
Current Projects include quantifying ENaC protein levels in kidney cells, analyzing trafficking kinetics, and studying compartmental localization under varying physiological conditions.
