Laurent Stalder is a Full Professor and former head (until 2021) of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at the Department of Architecture, ETH Zurich. His research focuses on the history and theory of architecture from the 19th to 21st centuries, intersecting with technological history, architectural ethnography, and critical theory.

Stalder’s research spans architectural theory, cultural history, and environmental design, with a focus on interdisciplinary methodologies. He has held visiting positions at MIT (2009) and Tokyo Institute of Technology (2019) and serves on the board of the Swiss Institute for Archaeological and Architectural Research in Cairo.
