Thomas Hänsli is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zurich, and currently serves as the Director of the Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI) and Head of Digital Art History at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich.
He studied music, architecture, and art history at ETH Zurich, earning a diploma in architecture. His academic and professional journey includes extensive research and teaching roles across Swiss institutions.
His research interests span digital art history, early modern art and architectural history, 20th-century art and architecture, and Baroque illusion painting, reflecting a multidisciplinary engagement with both historical and digital methodologies.
His affiliations include ETH Zurich (1994–2009), Università della Svizzera italiana (2011–13), and University of Zurich (2013–present). He has held research assistant positions and leadership roles, focusing on architectural theory and digital art history.
