Dr. Andrea Danani is a Researcher at the Faculty of Informatics of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and a Professor at the Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana (SUPSI). He holds a Dipl.-Ing in Physics from ETH Zurich (1987) and a Ph.D. from SISSA/ISAS in Trieste (1992). His research focuses on many-electron systems, phase transitions, surface diffusion of adatoms in metals, and numerical simulation methods like Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics. He has led projects on polymer nanocomposites and biopharmaceutics/drug delivery systems. At the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS), he organized student camps in applied informatics (C3-Campus). Since 2000, he has collaborated with SUPSI as a scientist and educator.

Research Interests: Dr. Danani’s work spans computational modeling of many-body systems, surface physics, and interdisciplinary applications in materials science and biopharmaceutics. His methods include analytical models and advanced numerical simulations. Recent focus areas include drug delivery systems and polymer nanocomposite behavior.
Projects: He has led initiatives in numerical simulation methodologies and their application to polymer nanocomposites and biopharmaceutics. His collaborations include the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI).
Labs/Teams: Active within IDSIA USI-SUPSI and SUPSI’s research groups, focusing on computational physics and applied informatics.
