Andrea Danani

Andrea Danani is a Professor of Computational Sciences at SUPSI, affiliated with the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) and the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA). He holds dual Swiss-Italian nationality and has extensive experience in theoretical physics and computational modeling.

Education: Diploma in Physics (ETH Zurich, 1987), PhD in Theoretical Physics (SISSA Trieste, 1992). Postdoctoral work at Politecnico di Torino, Università di Milano, and Università di Genova.

Research Interests: Quantum models of superconductivity, diffusion on metals, computational biophysics, drug delivery systems, and nanocomposite simulations. His work bridges computational methods with biomedical applications, such as designing nanocarriers for gene therapy and optimizing drug delivery mechanisms.

Professional Roles: Directed projects on nanocomposite modeling and drug delivery systems. Served as COST Action Committee Member (MC) for multiple European initiatives, including Hybrid Interfaces (TP1202) and Innogly (CA18103).

Labs/Teams: Coordinates the Computational Biophysics Laboratory at IDSIA, focusing on virtual screening, drug design, and molecular dynamics simulations.
