Laurent Calvez is a Professor at the University of Rennes I, affiliated with the Institute of Chemical Sciences of Rennes (UMR CNRS 6226) and a member of the Glasses and Ceramics research team. His work bridges fundamental materials research and industrial application, with a focus on infrared-transparent chalcogenide glasses and glass-ceramics.
- PhD in Chemistry, University of Rennes I, 2006
- HDR (Habilitation), University of Rennes I, 2014
- Post-doctoral fellowship, Materials Science Engineering Lab, Tucson, USA, 2006–2007
- Assistant Professor, University of Rennes I, 2007
- Professor, University of Rennes I, 2020
His research interests include the synthesis of novel infrared glasses and glass-ceramics, photoinduced effects in chalcogenide systems, and the development of innovative production methods. His work has significant applications in thermal imaging and photoelectric devices. The publication record shows a consistent focus on advancing chalcogenide-based materials, particularly for multispectral and infrared applications, with an emphasis on efficiency, transparency, and manufacturability.
