Professor Laurence Jones serves as Visiting Professor of Geography and Environmental Science at Liverpool Hope University and holds dual roles as Principal Scientist and Co-Director of the RECLAIM project at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH). He leads a 17-member research group and acts as UKCEH's thematic lead for urban research, with growing emphasis on modeling human benefits from urban green and blue spaces.
His research spans three core domains: theoretical ecosystem services modeling, nitrogen/ozone pollution impacts on semi-natural ecosystems, and coastal ecology (specializing in sand dune systems and shellfish hygiene). He increasingly operates in interdisciplinary frameworks with global collaborators, reflecting the interconnected nature of environmental challenges.
With over 100 ISI publications and an H-index of 40, his work demonstrates significant scholarly impact. His leadership in the RECLAIM project and urban research theme at UKCEH highlights applied focus on translating ecological theory into practical environmental management solutions for urban landscapes.
